REMEMBER PO' GIRL
SOLD OUT was the outcome of the gig at the TORPHICHEN INN from the sensational Canadian folk / country band
PO 'GIRL.
And what a great night it was to boot.
The enthusiastic audience were simply spell-bound as the girls from Canada and the two guys from the USA produced a terrific night of breathtaking harmonies and superb musicianship. The silence during some of their numbers was quite moving and testament to the beautifully crafted numbers. The band's multi-talents were also shown with the various instruments - in particular Awna's "gut-bucket" bass sounding out the bass-line for Ben E King's "Stand By Me" which the audience lustily sang on their own on realising the familiar notes! Allison's vocals were breathtaking.

Po' Girl were taken aback by the local talent who performed prior to their sets. Dave, Frank, Aaron and Campbell gave it "laldy" and the trio of "Flung Together" added admirably to the flavour of the night.When Allison Midgely joined the first-mentioned quartet for the rendition of Scocha's "Callin' Doon The Line" you could have heard a "pin-drop". From the size of audience that was some feat indeed.As it was the last gig of their European and UK tour - Po' Girl will not be touring again until 2014 - this was a special night and they were given an emotional rendering of "Flower Of Scotland" by the locals at the end of the night.

Believe me Po' Girl enjoyed themselves equally as much as the sell-out audience! The band flew back to the USA on the Monday following and took the time to contact me with a special, special thanks to the Torphichen Inn folks with their heartfelt appreciation. I must admit to being quite emotional for the girls to take that trouble. Their warmth was so genuine and sincere!

Well I did make a bold statement earlier in the year as follows:
YOU CANNOT MISS THIS !!!!!!!! THIS WILL BE THE BEST GIG IN FALKIRK THIS YEAR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And I was NOT wrong. The SCOCHA gig at St. Modan's on Feb 17 was absolutely BRILLIANT in every aspect.
I can only say those who, for whatever reason, chose to or did not attend, (shame on you) you missed an absolute cracker of a night!
It was true FAMILY entertainment with something for everyone, Mum's, Dad's, Grannies, Grand-dads and teenagers as well - all were exhausted at 11:00p.m.
Since then the guys have been in New York headlining the annual Scottish Week in "The Big Apple" and entertained a crowd of 15,000
WIGWAM CONCERT PROMOTIONS are delighted SCOCHA will be returning to The Regal, Bathgate on Friday September 21 - you just CANNOT miss this one! Tickets will be on-sale soon from The Regal Bathgate (01506 - 630085) so you are urged to save up your pennies and get hold of yours as soon as they become available.
The band return to Falkirk on Saturday November 17 where they are on-stage at The Beancross, Laurieston by-pass. Ticket outlets will again be The Steeple Box Office in Falkirk, and on-line from www.borderevents.com/boxoffice
